5/239 Redbournbury Mill,
including front railings


Mill house and water mill. Mid C18, extended on W in early C19.
Possibly an earlier core. Chequered and plain red brick. Plain
tile roofs at rear, slate on front. 2 storeys. Mill house on
left is L shaped, the earlier part on the right, its entrance
formerly on the W side. The W elevation has a floor band. 2
casement windows to 1st floor. 3 segmental-headed windows to
ground floor, one formerly a door. Front range is 2 windows, the
left side early C19 plain brick. Boxed eaves cornice. Casements
except for sash on right. Early C19 doorcase with shaped
brackets and open pediment. Mill block on right has 2 segmental
headedcasements and a central 2-storeyed sack hoist. Dentilled
brick eaves. Front railings to house are cast iron with leaf-
shaped spikes. Some mill mechanism intact.
