3/399 Heron's Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Early C16 and probably an earlier origin. Timber
framed. Cased in red brick C18. Early C19 sash windows. C20 N
wing. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys. Original house is a close-
studded range of 4 bays. This part has 4 windows. 3 on ground
floor are triple-hung sashes with segmental heads. Blank 1st
floor panel at S end. Small ridge stack on right centre.
Interior S side has good exposed ceiling beams with wide flat
joists. Rear elevation is part weatherboarded. Former stair
turret at S end. N wing terminates at W end in a single storey
C16 block, timber frame with red brick infill, probably a former
kitchen or bakehouse. (RCHM Typescript).
