N of Library at
Well Head. C17 or earlier, acquired and put in position by J.P.Morgan
early in C20. Stone. Probably Spanish. A cylindrical hollow bowl with
relief carvings on outer face. 6 pointed arches on twisted columns
enclose scenes of animals, possibly from Aesop's Fables. Foliate
ornament in spandrels.
