Pair of estate cottages to Aldenham House, Butterfly Lane, Aldenham
(q.v.). 1878-9. By W Butterfield for H.H. Gibbs, Lord Aldenham. Brick,
some stone dressings, some sham timber framing applied to render. Tiled
roof. Domestic Revival Style. 2 storeys. Central entrances, that to right
with a C20 porch addition, flanking slightly projecting wings under
hipped gables. Rubbed brick heads and stone hood moulds over openings.
Casements. Staircase windows with segmental heads. Hipped dormer breaks
eaves over left entrance. Sham timber framing to first floor of wings in
which are 2 tall windows. Stacks to rear in return angles of wings have
stone offsets. Return and rear elevations have burnt brick diamond
patterning and sham timbering continued from front at upper level.Cusped
bargeboards to gabled wings and central hipped dormer to rear. Interior
