Former house, now Public House. C15, altered and extended C17. Waggon
way cut through C18. Refronted C19. Timber frame. Brick and tile
hung front, weatherboarding. Tiled roof. Single ended open hall with
crown post roof. 2 bay hall now 2 storeys. C19 sash with dormer above to
left. Right bay now waggon way. Cross wing to left originally jettied to
front. Underbuilt with entrance to right and 1 window to ground floor.
First floor sash. Tile hung gable. C17 ridge stack. Small C19 stack on
front pitch of hall. 3 bay extension to rear of cross wing, originally
kitchen and stables, weatherboarded and rendered. Scattered windows and
doors, some mortices for wooden diamond mullions survive. Roof hipped to
rear. Original service bay to right demolished C20. In waggon way timber
frame exposed. Central truss to left has crown post with longitudinal
brace to collar purlin. Arched braced cambered tie beam. Jowled posts.
C18 brick wall to right has timbering above. Interior: good timbering.
Ground floor front: chamfered binding beam, arched braced. Hollow
chamfered jambs and lintel to fireplace behind which is C17 staircase
with splat balusters. (RCHM Typescript).
