House. c.1600, altered and extended C18, c.1900 and later. Timber frame,
extended in brick. Colour washed, pebbledash. Tile and slate roofs.
Originally 2 bays with external stack and staircase wing. 2 storeys.
Scattered C19/C20 casements, most with leaded lights, some with timber
glazing bars. Gabled staircase wing originally central to front. C18
extension to left front under catslide roof, flat topped dormer above.
Left bay is C20 brick addition. Red brick external stack with offsets on
right end wall with quadrant oven to front. 2 storey c.1900 extension
with slate roof to rear right. Original entrance blocked, now entered
from c.1900 and C20 extensions. Interior: exposed timber framing,
original brick fireplace with timber jambs and lintel. Prior to
c.1840-50 The Mops and Brooms Alehouse and from then until 1932 The Lord
Nelson PH. (RCHM Typescript).
