Large house. c.1850, part rebuilt mid C20. Extended c.1900 and later C20.
Stock brick, stuccoed ground floor. Stone and cement rendered dressings.
Slate hipped roofs. 2 storeys, 4 window front. Central entrance with
Tuscan porte-cochere with paired columns. Fanlight over door and side
light. Sashes with wedge lintels. First floor blind boxes. Modillioned
stone cornice. Raised panelled quoins at angles. Left return: 1:3:1.
Ground floor French windows. Mutuled pediment and balcony over ground
floor bow window to centre. Quoins to step back to flanking bays. Ridge
stacks flank pediment. Right return: extruded stack towards front.
Central section rebuilt and stuccoed with large multi-paned staircase
window. Rear: 5 bays, similar to front and left, raised quoins separate
2 right hand bays. 1 storey conservatory added to left front. c.1900 1
storey ball-room addition to right. C20 1 storey kitchen block added to
rear right. Interior: C19 plaster mouldings on ground floor. Terraced
grounds. Called Ridgehurst until 1934.
