Stable/stalls range. Early-mid C19. Red-brown brick with pantile roof.
Rectangular on plan. Single storey, 10 bays to west side. 3-bay stable
to left has central entrance with deep segmental arch and board stable
door with wrought iron strap hinges, flanked by window to right with
original slatted wooden ventilator, and window to left with 3 lights
above blocked lower section, both beneath segmental arches. 6-bay open
stalls section to right supported on square-section posts on chamfered
ashlar padstones. Single-bay stable to right has deep segmental-arched
entrance with board stable door with wrought iron strap hinges. Both
entrances have ashlar hinge blocks. Roof hipped to right. Small low
single-storey outhouse set back to right return with single door. C20
screen wall adjoing to right is not of special interest. Forms east
side of foldyard to east of Whitehall Farmhouse (qv). Together with
adjacent barn/stable/cartshed-granary range and stable/stalls ranges
[qv) forms a good example of a post-Enclosure improved farm.
