House, now Council offices. Late C18, with large C19 extension in same
style to east. Yellow brick, stone dressings, slate roof. Main range of 3
storeys, 5 bays. Plinth. Ground floor: sill band. Central C19 double-leaf
glazed door with flanking narrow 2-pane sashes in Tuscan doorcase and Tuscan
tetrastyle portico. Full entablature, with roundels to frieze; modillion
cornice. To left, two 4-pane sashes; to right, blank opening and an altered
4-pane sash. All windows under cambered wedge lintels. First-floor band.
First floor: sill band. Central sash with glazing bars in architrave with
modillion cornice. To left, 2 sashes with glazing bars; to right, a blank
opening and a sash with glazing bars, all under cambered wedge lintels.
Second-floor band. Second floor: central 2-pane sash flanked by blank
openings and 2-pane and 3-pane sashes to ends. All openings have sills and
are under flat wedge lintels. Modillion eaves cornice, hipped roof, end and
axial stacks. Extension to left is of 2 storeys with attics, 4 bays.
Ground floor: two 4-pane sashes to right, 12-pane sash to far left, blank
opening between. All have sills, under flat wedge lintels. First floor:
sill band. Three 4-pane sashes and a blank opening under flat wedge
lintels. Modillion eaves cornice. 4 segmental-headed roof dormers with C20
tilting windows. Axial stack. Garden front: centre 3 bays break forward
under low pediment. Plinth and sill band. Five 2-pane sashes under
cambered wedge lintels. First-floor band and sill band. 5 similar sashes.
Second-floor band. Blank opening to bay 2, four 2-pane sashes with sills
under wedge lintels. Modillion eaves and raked cornices.
