House. c1815. Yellow brick with stone dressings, graduated slate roofs.
2 storeys, 4 bays to garden front. Ground floor: plinth and sill band.
Three 4-pane sashes under cambered wedge lintels to right; similar window,
now filled with coloured glass and concealed behind a C20 conservatory, to
left. First-floor band and sill band. 4 sashes with sills and glazing bars
under cambered wedge lintels with louvred shutters. Bracketed timber eaves
cornice, hipped roof, end stacks. Entrance (right) elevation: 2 storeys,
2 bays. Left bay rises as a canted bay through the full height of the
house. Projecting porch on unfluted Doric columns carrying a full pediment.
Round-headed glazed door with roundel panel in round-headed architrave with
keyblock. To right, a sash with glazing bars under cambered wedge lintel.
4-pane sash with sill over blank balustered panel to canted bay: first-floor
band and sill band to similar, 9-pane, unequal sash at first-floor level.
Bracketed timber eaves cornice. Stack to inner side of canted bay.
Interior: cut-string stair with stick balusters and ramped and wreathed
handrail. In the canted bay are original fireplaces beneath the windows at
ground- and first-floor level: the flues from these fireplaces are led up
the inside face of the bay itself. The ground-floor room is divided from
the rear room by a pair of large sliding doors with raised and beaded
panelling.
