House, now a nursing home. c1830-40. Brick, pebbledashed and colour-
washed, slate roofs. Very irregular plan and elevation. Shallow, chamfered
plinth, rusticated quoins. Varying from one to 2 storeys, in 5 sections.
First section (formerly a coach-house): double-leaf boarded and glazed doors
in rusticated surround under hoodmould. First floor: 2-light casement under
hoodmould. Small oblong window to gable. Plain close verges, small finial
to apex. Second section: double leaf Gothick panelled doors, to former open
courtyard, in 4-centred arch with hoodmould under very small oriel window.
Coped crow-step gable. Third section: central cross mullion window flanked
by single-light transomed windows all under a hoodmould. Fourth section:
rusticated quoins. Breaks forward slightly. 3-light mullion-and-transom
window under a hoodmould to ground floor; similar 2-light window to first
floor, also under a hoodmould. Oblong blank opening under a hoodmould to
raised coped gable on shaped kneelers. Fifth section: rusticated quoins.
Gothick panelled door under fanlight with Gothick glazing bars in pointed
opening under a hoodmould with carved stops. To right, 3-light mullion-
and-transom window under a hoodmould. First floor: 2 light mullion-and-
transom windows. All openings in shallow rusticated surrounds. Coped
gables, end and axial stacks. The interior has been almost completely
modernised but does retain a simple early C19 cut-string stair with
octagonal Gothick newels.
