Vicarage now nursing home. Dated 1839. Red brick in English bond, ashlar dressings;
Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 1:2 bays on entrance front; altered wing to right
is now 1-storeyed. Tudor Revival style. Angle buttresses rise as octagonal
pinnacles with finials; moulded, quoined window surrounds with hoodmoulds; stepped
gables with slit windows, ashlar copings and finials. Porch to bay 2 has diagonal
buttresses and Tudor-arched door (now window) under hoodmould with lozenge stops;
finialled gable with shield inscribed 'Erected AD 1839'. Above porch is a 2-light,
mullioned window having tall 12-pane sashes beneath continuous dripcourse and coped
parapet. Bay 3 has similar windows to each floor set in continuous recess with
mid-floor panels having shield and ribbon motifs; gable above. Bay 1, set back,
is similar to bay 3. Chamfered, hooded doorway into left return of bay 2. Project-
ing lateral stack to right return has twin shafts as do end stacks of main trans-
verse ridge. Rear: 3 bays with central recess; small loggia with 2 pointed-arched
openings and part-glazed door within. 2-light windows as that above front porch;
gabled outer bays with corbelled corner pinnacles. Interior: Contemporary stair-
case and fireplaces of various designs. Previous list description states that the
architect was probably Henry Francis Lockwood of Hull.
