House. 1901. Red brick, pebbledashed above ground floor, with slate roof. Arts
and craft style. Two storeys plus attics; rectangular on plan with 2-storey northern
service range and later extensions to ground floor of south elevation. Main
elevation to west, facing garden. Ground floor has 2 wide bay windows with 5
unequally hung 10-pane sashes to front and similar single sashes to sides, central
keyed arch between, above continuous cornice and parapets. Parapets to the windows
have painted swag decoration, blind central panel over arch. First floor has
similar bay window to left and 4-light window to right, also with unequally hung
sashes. Continuous deep bracketed cornice above and large pedimented gable with
similar copings. Within gable to attic a 5-light window with similar sashes except
for blind central panel, cornice to top. Above again painted plasterwork cartouche
with foliage decoration to sides, dated 1901. Irregularly placed corniced ridge
stacks to steeply pitched roof. Entrance to north front which has advanced ground
floor to right and projecting service range to left. Half-glazed panelled door
to centre below bracketed hood, paired unequally hung 6-pane sashes below segmental
arch to right. Service range has unequally hung 9-pane sash also below segmental
arch to right and panelled door below similar arch to left. Above the door is a
balustraded parapet and round arched staircase window. Above to service range is
a bracketed bay window with four 4-pane sashes above a painted swagged plinth.
Above again to right an open pedimented attic dormer with paired sashes. Interior
has elaborate staircase hall with round arches to ground floor and galleried landing
with ramped handrails, reeded stick balusters and tapering corniced newel posts.
Most original doors and fireplaces in situ.
