6/96 Braffords Hall

House. After 1812, for Mr Robert Osborne, Recorder of Hull. White brick,
stone dressings, slate roofs. Main range of 2 storeys, 3 bays, with
projecting end wings of 2 storeys, one bay each. Central glazed and
panelled door under fanlight with radial glazing in rusticated surround with
carved face of Neptune to keyblock flanked to right and to left by blank
panels. Semicircular porch with Tuscan columns with frieze and cornice. To
right and left are paired 12-pane sashes with sills under slightly cambered
lintels. First-floor sill band. Central sash with glazing bars in
architrave with fluted pulvinated frieze and projecting cornice flanked to
right and to left by sashes with glazing bars with wedge lintels. Eaves
cornice and blocking course. Wings to right and left are similar: ground
floor: tripartite sashes with glazing bars in round-headed recess with
fanned tympanum. First-floor sill band to sashes with glazing bars, each
under a cambered wedge lintel. Corner pilasters, parapets with central
balustered panel, hipped roof, interior side wall stacks. Interior: cut-
string stair with wood and metal stick balusters and slender ramped
handrail. Most of the 6-beaded-panel doors survive as do a number of
contemporary pine fireplaces and plaster cornices and centrepieces.
