approximately 580 metres
south of Goole Hall

Tombstone. 1728. Ashlar. To Ewan Empson of Ousefleet Hall, and to wives
Rachel and Patience, and Rachel his daughter. Arms carved in relief, with
shield bearing chevron and Maltese crosses surmounted by Maltese cross
emblem, above illuminated inscription. Bottom section obscured at time of
resurvey. One of a series of early C18 tombstones (the others all
apparently fragmentary), in the overgrown former graveyard of the Empson
family of nearby Goole Hall (qv).
