6/32 The Angel Inn
Public house. Dated 1778, with later addition to north. Red brick with
pantile roof. Occupies corner site at junction with Main Street; L-shaped
on plan: original 2-room central entrance-hall section to left with blocked
door; 1-shaped addition with entrance hall and single room to right and
outshut in angle. 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows. Central straight joint
between builds. C20 door beneath 3-pane overlight and painted rubbed-brick
flat arch. Single 12-pane sash in flush wooden architrave to right, and
pair of similar sashes to left flanking blocked door, with sills and painted
brick flat arches. 3-course brick first-floor band. Pair of 12-pane sashes
to left, and pair of blocked windows to right, in similar surrounds to
ground floor. Dentilled brick eaves cornice. Roof hipped to right; brick-
coped gable to left. Axial and end stacks. Right return forms north front
to Main Street, with three 12-pane sashes in flush wooden architraves with
sills and stucco flat arches to each floor; similar eaves cornice, brick-
coped gable, axial and end stacks. Gable ends bear dated tie-bar ends:
'17' to west, '78' to south.
