House, now 2 houses and shop. Mid C18 with C19 alterations to No 5,
unsympathetic C20 alterations to No 7. Brown brick in Flemish bond,
rendered to No 7. Concrete tile roof. Double-depth plan, probably
originally with 2-room central entrance-hall plan, divided in two in C19,
with ground floor left converted to shop. 2 storeys, 5 bays, with entrances
inserted in original window openings to second bay (No 5) and fourth bay
(No 7). No 5: 2 steps to C19 half-glazed panelled door and overlight
beneath painted rubbed-brick flat arch with projecting ashlar keystone.
Painted ashlar sill band, cut by doorway, dips beneath slightly-recessed C19
plate-glass sash to left with similar painted keyed flat arch. C19 flat-
roofed canted-bay shop window to right with single plate-glass windows to
front and sides, beneath plain frieze and dentilled cornice. No 7: C19
steps to C20 door with single inserted C20 casement to right. First floor:
No 5 has painted ashlar sill band, blocked window to third bay with keyed
ashlar architrave, two 12-pane flush sashes beneath painted keyed flat
arches; 2 inserted C20 casements to No 7. Coved eaves cornice (short
sections of original plaster cornice survive at angles, remainder replaced
by C20 boards). Stone-coped gable to left with shaped kneelers and tie-bar
ends bearing initials 'W R'; right gable with kneeler adjoins neighbouring
building. End stacks, that to right raised alongside neighbouring building.
Interior largely altered in C19 and C20.
