Lodge and gates, gate piers and railings to Yokefleet Hall (qv). 1868-74.
Probably by F S Brodrick of Hull. Lodge: polychrome brick, stone dressings,
Welsh slate roof. L-shaped on plan with tower tucked into angle. Single
storey with 2 attic windows, one in tower to left, the other in gable end to
right. Studded 6-panel door in arched porch to ground floor of the tower
with angle buttresses. Leaded lights throughout. Single-light casement to
left and canted bay to gable end of left wing. Canted bay window to gable
wall of right wing. Attic: single-light casement to right, 2-light casement
to left, both beneath ashlar lintels and pointed polychrome arches with
decorative tympana. Gable coping and shaped kneelers to gable end. Stepped
eaves course and pyramidal roof to tower. Stacks rising through pitch of
roof. Gates: wrought-iron gates, ashlar piers, brick wall. Gates with
dogbars and fleur-de-lys finials to standards. Square section piers
approximately 3 metres in height with cross and fleur-de-lys relief to
shafts, moulded capitals and decorative finials bearing inscription "Corona
Mea Christus". Curved coped connecting wall approximately one metre in
height terminates in piers identical to gate piers. Included for group
value.
