Gate lodge cottage. Mid C19 for John Brunyee of Sand Hall. Brick,
stuccoed. Welsh slate roof. Hexagonal on plan. Single storey. C20 glazed
porch over original Gothick panelled door with 2 pointed panels. 2-light
casements to sides, with sills and Gothick glazing (2 pointed lights of
6 panes each, with small diamond panes at intersections of the iron glazing
bars, the diamond panes of coloured glass with floral motifs). Deep eaves.
Central hexagonal stack. The lodge is matched by a garden outhouse at Sand
Hall, and the former south lodge, now Dirtness Cottage, on the south side of
the A 18 in Belton parish (qv).
