House and former shop. House late C18, shop mid C18 with C19 shop front and
extension to left. Brick, in Flemish bond to house, with lower courses
rendered. Pantile roof to house; concrete tile roof to shop. House has
double-depth plan with 2-room, central entrance-hall front and continuous
rear outshut. House: 2 storeys with attic, 3 bays; symmetrical. 3 stone
steps to 6-fielded-panel door beneath fluted lintel and 4-pane overlight in
doorcase with pilasters carrying entablature with plain frieze, moulded
cornice and hood. C19 4-pane sashes to either side in original flush wooden
architraves with sills beneath stucco flat arches. Similar first-floor
sashes, that above entrance narrower. Stepped eaves. Raised stone-coped
gables with shaped kneelers. End stacks. Right gable end has small 2-pane
flush casement to attic. Shop (No 11) section slightly set back to left:
single-storey with attic, single bay. Shop front has half-glazed panelled
double doors to right with margin lights beneath plain overlight, 3-light
window to left with narrow central transom; both door and window in wood
surround with pilasters carrying entablature with plain frieze, moulded
cornice and hood. Tumbled-in brick to raised left gable, with wrought-iron
figure '9' (probably final digit of date) on right side of gable. Single-
storey 2-window shop extension to left, continuing around street corner:
section facing High Street has 3-light transomed shop window; section to
left, facing Chapel Street, has recessed 6-panel door beneath 3-pane
overlight, with 2-light transomed shopwindow to right, both windows and door
in pilastered surrounds with plain frieze, moulded cornice and hood. Twin
brick bands, stone coped parapet. Interior: to No 13 has open-well
staircase with corniced handrail, plain balusters and newel posts.
