Grade 11
House and shop. c1830 with C20 shop front to ground floor, Fronts of yellow
brick with stucco dressings; rear of red brick. Slate roof. Rectangular on
plan. 3 storeys; 3-bay main front to Bridge Street, 2-bay front to Forrester
Street. Both fronts have rendered brick to ground floor with inserted C20
shop fronts with plate-glass windows, full-height Doric pilasters to first and
second storeys, with stucco capitals carrying deep stepped eaves, 3-course
brick second floor band. Bridge Street front has recessed tripartite sash
windows with stone sills beneath rubbed-brick flat arches, those to second
floor with original small-pane sashes, those to first floor with later C19
plate-glass in original frames. Forrester Street front has 16-pane sashes,
those to first floor also with plate-glass in original frames. Wooden eaves
board. Hipped roof. Pair of corniced roof stacks with square-section chimney
pots. Stone-coped gable to rear. Interior has cast iron columns supporting
wooden beams on ground floor.
