7/59 Ivy House


House. Late C17 - early C18 with adjoining later C18 barn now part of
house; C19 extensions and alterations to rear. Brick; early portion of
house in English bond, originally colourwashed throughout. Pantile roof.
U-shaped on plan: original 3-room section with lobby-entry to left of
centre, barn extension to left and rear extensions to each end. 2 storeys,
5 first floor windows. Recessed 6-fielded-panel door (top 2 panels glazed)
with one 12-pane sliding sash to left and two to right with blocked opening
between. First floor has alternating 2- and 3-light sliding sashes with
glazing bars. Stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice. Brick coped and
tumbled gable to right and to extension which has more steeply-pitched roof.
Axial stack and end stack to right. Left return has 3-light sliding sashes
to ground and first floor. Interior not investigated.
