Estate cottage and adjoining garden walls. Early-mid C18 for Hildyard
Estate; later alterations and additions. Cottage: brick with pantile roof.
2-room central lobby-entry plan with later rear outshut. Single storey with
attic, 2 windows. Segmental-headed entrance with recessed 6-fielded-panel
door flanked by basket-arched window to right with 12-pane sash beneath oak
lintel, window to left beneath inserted lintel and blocked arch. Tumbled-in
brick to raised gables. Axial stack. Single attic windows to gables.
Interior contains 6-fielded-panel doors, beamed ceilings, trenched purlin
roof. Garden walls of brick with brick and ashlar coping. Enclose 2
rectangular gardens. Projecting pedestrian gateways to each side with board
doors beneath segmental arches and moulded ashlar cornices; projecting
square piers to walls. Later adjoining outbuildings to north-east corner
are not of special interest.
