TA 16 NW RUDSTON THORPE HALL

SP/543 Statue of Bacchus
and Ariadne

GV II

Statue. 1903. Terracotta. Moulded base to square plinth with half-round projection
to front and sunk moulded panels to sides. Moulded cornice with bead and reel to
astragal, egg and dart to ovolo. Paired figures in draperies walking with arms
entwined. A photograph of the gardens as originally completed show that this group
was used as the centrepiece to the long lawn opposite the house.
