Church. C12 nave and chancel, C14 west tower, later heightened. Ashlar,
slate and tiled roofs. West tower, 3-bay nave with north aisle, 4-bay
chancel with north chapel. West tower: 3 stages with moulded plinth and
string courses. Second stage (originally the belfry) has pointed 2-light
windows with Curvilinear tracery. Upper stage has lancets under pierced
crenellated parapet with corner pinnacles. 2-light pointed west window with
C19 tracery. Nave: chamfered plinth, two 2-light square-headed windows with
C19 tracery under hoodmoulds. Round-headed south door of 2 orders with
nail-head to capitals and double-chamfered arch under hoodmould with
foliated stops. Chancel: chamfered plinth. 2-light square - headed window
with ogival tracery to west, 3-light square-headed window with similar
tracery to east. Central pointed priests' door under hoodmould with
foliated stops and apex carving. 3-light pointed east window with
Curvilinear tracery under hoodmould with monarch stops. Cross finial to
gable. Interior: imposts with floral and beast-head carving. North arcade
of round piers supporting square capitals, with simple leaf carving, under
round arches of 2 square orders. Late mediaeval roof of 5 principal-rafter
trusses with king-posts braced to ridge - piece and side purlins with cusped
windbraces. Chancel: C16 roof of 4 principal rafter trusses with king posts
braced to ridge pieces and strutted purlins. North chapel: round-headed
door and round arch on hollow - chamfered imposts. C17 wall paintings with
worn black-letter inscripts to north wall, re-used stones with chevron
carving in south wall. Octagonal tub font to nave west end.
