1744-5, built by Wrightson. Two storeys and attic in red brick with pantile
roof with two gabled dormers. Moulded brick eaves cornice. Five windows,
near flush frame sashes with glazing bars, jalousies to upper windows, painted
gauged brick heads to ground floor windows. North front to Newbegin has
tumbled brickwork to gable. First floor has 2 single windows and one of three
lights. Hung sashes with glazing bars. Ground floor has a pair of modern
carriage doors, one window. Early C19 porch to main entrance with double antae
in stucco and simple entablature. 6-panel door recessed in porch. Interior:
remodelled in late C18, good staircase. Part formerly the Sedan Chair House,
the original doors remain.
