8/48 Church of Saint Monica
Church. 1882, by Windsor Iron Works, Liverpool. Corrugated iron, sheet
iron to roof, timber. 2-bay nave with north and south transepts, 2-stage
north bell turret with broach spire in angle between north transept and
nave, single-bay chancel with north vestry. Nave: pointed windows with
paired mullions. Triple stepped pointed windows to west end. Fretted
bargeboards, ridge cresting. Bell turret: diagonally-boarded double-leaf
door to north, pointed window to west. Offset with encircling single-pitch
roof with iron shingles beneath belfry stage; 2 light belfry openings with
Curvilinear tracery (in timber), under broach spire with false timber
lucarnes. Transepts: triple stepped pointed north and south windows.
Fretted bargeboards. Chancel: 3 triple stepped pointed windows. Interior:
pine board cladding to walls and ceilings, exposed arch braced principal
rafter roof trusses with collars.
