4/35 Cart house, stables and
pigeoncote to Croom House
Cart house, stables and pigeoncote, now workshops. Probably late C18 with
later additions and alterations. Reddish-brown brick and clunch with
sandstone dressings and Welsh slate roof. 2-storey, single centre bay of
brick with clunch 2-lower-storey, 3-bay wings. Central cart entrance, a
double plank door with blind overlight under round arch of gauged brick To
first floor an oculus with slats and glazing. Cogged eaves. Pyramidal
roof. Wings (approximately alike): brick plinth and quoins. Central
entrances are board doors with overlights with vertical glazing under blind
fanlights and round arches of gauged brick. Otherwise multi-paned and
slatted windows under blind fanlights and with round arches of gauged brick.
To first floor are pitching doors and multi-paned windows. Cogged eaves.
Hipped roofs, with ball finial to left.
