School hall for Cranbrook School. 1883 by T G Jackson. Pink with orange
brick dressings and dentilled cornices between ground and first floors and
over first floor. Stone balustrade and pinnacles to plain tiled roof with
large pilastered end stack to left, smaller end stack to right and stone
gable parapets. Central cupola of 2 arched tiers with ogee cap and weather-
vane. 2 storeys. 7 bays, the 2nd, 4th and 6th projecting with pilaster
on both floors and carrying pediments above first floor against blank brick
parapets. Large arched windows on first floor of three bays. Tall segment-
headed windows on first floor of 3rd and 5th bays. Horizontal oval
windows with swags above segment-headed windows on first floors of first
and seventh bays. Segment-headed windows with keystones. On ground floor,
one to each bay except two smaller onces in 6th bay and arched doorway with
panelled door in first bay from left. All windows casements with transoms
and mullions; rubbed brick decorative aprons below each. Interior: Arched
braced crown post roof in Big School. Panelling.
