House. C16 or earlier, extended and altered C16/C17 and C20. Timber framed and
exposed with plaster infill on red brick around floor in part in English Bond.
Plain tiled roof. Four framed bay lobby entry (originally hall?). House extended
by additional 2 bays. Two storeys with roof hipped with large gablet to left and
half-hipped to right with stack cluster to centre left, and to rear. Irregular
fenestration of leaded wooden casements, 5 on first floor with 4 light coved oriel
to centre, and 3 to ground floor with C20 plank and stud door to end right with
4 centred arched surround. Principal entrance in rear elevation, with catslide
roof, and C20 pentize/porch. The narrow framed bay into which the main stack is
set indicates the original entry position. Interior: chamfered beams throughout,
several early mullioned (diamond-set) windows and shutter grooves, chamfered
inglenook bressummer. Turner baluster dogleg stair and contemporary (ie early C18)
panelled door. Main range with clasped purlin roof with crown post truss taken
up to ridge, as a king post, to left end bay. Queen post roof to additional right
hand bays.
