Church Cottage

(Formerly listed as THE STREET (north west side) Ryecot)

House. Circa 1846, probably by R C Hussey. Wealden sandstone with Caen stone dressings and plain tiled roof. Irregular T-shaped plan.

Present entry front former left return: two storeyed gabled wing to right with plinth, quoins and kneelered parapet gable with finial. Two light mullioned window on first floor, three light on ground floor. Half-glazed door to left in lean-to outshot. Gabled wing to rear left. Projecting and offset central stack.

Right return, original entrance front: one storey and attic, with gabled half-dormer, mullioned casement and four centred arched doorway with half-glazed door. Rear gabled wing with half-dormer, and four centred moulded doorway with half-glazed door.

Part of the complex designed by Hussey with the rebuilt church c.1846-8. (See B O E Kent I, 290).
