Spring head and memorial. C18 or early C19. Sandstone ashlar with heavy slate
roof. Paved surround to small square building, with 3 open arched sides, the
moulded and keyed arches on imposts carried across the piers. Gabled roof with
raised ridge. The spring rises up onto a platform within the building, and into a
semi-circular basin at its foot. Inscription in gable on attached plaque record-
ing the creation of the surrounding water garden in 1964 as memorial to Eileen
Bickerstaff, Headmistress of Bedgebury School.
