Trillinghurst Farmhouse

House. Largely circa 1600, clad C19, but containing older core and wing.
Timber framed and clad with red brick on ground floor with ornamental tile hang-
ing on 1st floor. Plain tiled roof. Lobby entry plan with rear wing. Two
storeys, garret and basement, with high weathered plinth and half-hipped roof
with stack to centre right. Two light, and two 3 light mullioned and transomed
casements on each floor, with single light to centre right on 1st floor and C19
doubled four centred arched doorway with boarded door and rectangular fanlight
on ground floor. Segmentally headed basement openings to left and to right.
C20 extension to rear right. Gabled wing to rear left, with offset stack in
English bond, with catslide outshot to main range. Interior: stone lined stair
down to brick cellars. Part blocked inglenook, with built-in fireback dated
1681, moulded chimney and ceiling beams. Soot-blackened queen-strut roof. Rear
wing with very low hearth, beamed structure with bread oven and soot-blackened
sans purlin roof.
