House. Mid to late C16 and clad and extended C18, roof rebuilt mid C20. Timber
framed and clad with red and blue chequered brick on ground floor and tile hung on
first floor and to left return, with weather boarded right return and plain tiled
roof. Two cell lobby entry plan. Two storeys on sandstone footings to left and red
brick footings to right; roof with projecting half-hip to left with gablet, and
hipped to right, with rebuilt stack to centre left. Two 3 light and central 2 light
wooden casements on first floor and 3 light, 1 light and 4 light casements on
ground floor with extra 2 light in outshot at right. C20 rib and stud door to centre
left. Catslide outshot and mid C20 wing to rear. Interior: roof completely rebuilt
after lightning fire c.1968, the lines reproducing the original, the frame below roof
level survives complete and undamaged, with large panel framing with mid-rail,
angular gunstock jowls to main posts and tongue stopped chamfers, in the principal
rooms on each floor (to right) stopped also to spine beam. Large sandstone block
fireplace on ground floor and chamfered wooden bresummers to upper fireplaces.
