adjoining village hall

Section of railings. Late C17, re-set here late C20. Cast iron on stone base in red
brick walling. This railed panel, as a nearby plaque records, was cast in
Lamberhurst to the designs of Sir Christopher Wren, and formed part of the railed
yard around St. Paul's Cathedral, London, until donated to Lamberhurst by the Dean
and Chapter of St.Paul's. The panel consists of a principal upright in the form of a
turned baluster with baluster finial and with scrolled bracing piece, flanked on
either side by two baluster type uprights with spear heads and intermediate spear
heads on both rail and base.
