inclusive, with
railed areas

Terrace row. Circa 1842, built by William Saxby. Rendered with plain
tiled roofs. Segmental plan to terrace. Two storeys, attic and basement,
with cill band, projecting cornice and parapet to roof, with stacks to
left and right of each house unit. Flat roofed dormer to each unit,
Nos. 3 and 13 with large out of scale C20 dormers. Large full height
bow to each house unit (19 in all), Nos. 1 to 6 with 2 glazing bar
sashes to each floor, Nos. 7 to 19 with 1 tripartite glazing bar sash
to each floor (glazing bars missing to No. 12). Panelled doors to right
of each bow with semi-circular fanlights and double rebated surrounds,
and flights of steps, with variety of doors to basements, the areas
of which are partly covered in Nos. 1 to 6. Spear head rails to steps
and to areas, and to small forecourt at No. 1. Saxby was the builder
of Vale Square, and may have been his own designer.
