Public House now cafe. C17, altered mid C19. Rendered with slate roof.
Two storeys and attic, with parapet, single flat roofed dormer and stack
to left. Shallow bow on 1st floor with vertical glazing bar sash. Plate
glass ground floor with panelled apron, pilasters, fascia and cornice
and half-glazed panelled door to right. Earlier wings in evidence to
rear. Originally (from the C17) a beer house called The Hovelling Boat
Inn, much used by boat crews and fishermen. (Busson, Ramsgate, 89;
Mirams, Old Ramsgate Pubs, 28).
