Former house, now a shop. Mid C17 with late C18 front. Partly
timber-framed at rear. Flemish bond red brick front; Kent-tile
roof. Plan clear on 1st floor, 3 units to front block the 2 E
bays with dividing stack, the W bay with stairs. 3 storeys.
Front: regular 3-window range. Edwardian style shopfront dated
1982. 1st and 2nd floors with 4-pane horned sashes in revealed
frames under cambered arches. Stone coped parapet renewed.
Stuccoed side wall (left) with 2 windows. Brick rear gable with
2 1st floor windows of 12 and 16 panes. Outshut continues to W.
Interior: Mid C17 dogleg stair runs through 3 storeys and is of
ambitious proportions with urn and shaft balusters on stout
rectangular plinths, abutted newels to each angle, alternately
rectangular or rounded. 1st floor front chamber has ovolo-
moulded and stopped chamfered spine and cross beams, early C18
part box wooden cornice, part dado panelling. Rear chamber has
stopped and chamfered cross beam. 2nd floor rear room has partly
exposed 4-centred chamfered fireplace bressumer, perhaps re-used.
Some timber framing (angle wall posts and wall plates) exposed.
