Substantial house, now an hotel. Mid C18. Flemish bond red
brick; roof not visible. Double-depth plan with off-centre rear
stair. Lateral stacks. 2 storeys and half basement. Front:
symmetrical 5-window range. Parapet with stone coping; cornice
with console brackets: both these features return. Upper floor
with 6-pane, the other floors with 12-pane sashes in revealed
frames under rubbed brick flat arches. Prominent pointed plat
band between ground and 1st floors. Central doorway (approached
by stone flight of steps) with surround, raised and panelled
reveals and door under a pediment obscured by advertisement.
Ogee Gothick arch within. Interior: one room (front, left) with
bolection moulded panelling; open well curved stair. Some door
surrounds and internal framing visible.
