HARRIETSHAM FAIRBOURNE LANE

north east of Fairbourne

Oast.C18 with C19 alterations. Timber framed, weatherboarded, on
red brick plinth. Plain tile roof. L-plan with kiln area
extending forward to right. Both sections half-hipped. Double doors
of single-storey height to left end of stowage and to gable end
of kiln section. Small boarded door above tie-beam of kiln section.
Interior: Exposed timbers. Remains of plaster work to walls
and rafters of first floor of kiln area. Double doors between
kiln and stowage on first floor. No clear bay divisions in kiln
area, and floor there missing. Roof probably altered in C19,
with ridge-piece. 2 pairs of principal rafers trenched for large
pegged collars just above wall-plate.Side purlins. Included for
group value.
