House or inn, now house row. C15 with mid C16 alterations. Timber-
framed with rendered infilling and plain tile roof. Wealden,
with hall of 2 unequal bays left two-thirds of left bay floored.
Storeyed bay to right and at least 2 storeyed bays set at about
60° to left of hall. 2 storeys on stone plinth. Left end bays
and floored left end of hall have continuous jetty. Right end
bay jettied, jetty continuing round right side elevation on plain
dragon post. Right bay of hall floored in C16 at higher level, with
moulded bressumer. Close studded. Arch brace from storeyed end of
hall-to flying wall-plate, and solid bracket beneath central tie-
beam. Hipped roof, with gablet to right. Small projecting brick
stacks towards rear to right and left and multiple filletted
brick stack in front slope of roof in unfloored third of left bay
of hall with brickwork corbelled out on first floor to fill the
recess. Irregular fenestration of 6 projecting ovolo-moulded
mullion windows with leaded lights, on small shaped brackets;
4 of 4 lights and 2 of 2 lights. Two C20 ribbed doors in C15
architraves with 4-centred arched heads and hollow spandrels, one
towards left end and one, larger and with moulded jambs, to floored
left end of hall. Long timber-framed rear wing to left with hipped
roof and gablet. C20 timber-framed lean-to to left end. Interior
not inspected.
