Dovecote, possibly dual purpose, now store. 1711, altered in C19.
Red brick with occasional grey headers in Flemish bond. Plain
tile roof. Circular, with conical roof capped off with lead
towards apex. On galletted stone plinth, with plat-band interrupted
either side of door. Band of large up ended bricks round top.
2 non-aligned inserted hatches to west, one above and one below
plat band. Later stable door in original door position to north
side. Datestone over door. Interior: Thick plastered walls
rebated to take a first floor. On ground floor, substantial
central post and cross-beam carrying C19 first floor joists. On 1st floor,
smaller circular central post morticed for shafts towards top
and base and with metal band round top, possibly remains of a
potence. Heavy tie-beam formerly spanning diameter of building, since
cut through. First floor ceiled above wall-plate level, probably
in C19. Plaster nesting boxes in upper area within living
memory.
