5/242 The Old Rectory
II
Rectory, now house. Said to be early C18, and part possibly
earlier. Early C19 front. Rendered, with plain tile roof. Double
depth. 2 storeys and attics on plinth with plat band, and
moulded cornice beneath parapet. Cornice breaks through
parapet to form central steep-sided triangular bottomless gable.
4 shallow buttresses terminating just below eaves cornice and
with bands carried across; one towards each end and one to outer
side of each "central" stack. Coped gable ends. 4 rendered
stacks; one at each end, that to right projecting slightly, and
one either side of central gable. 2 gabled dormers, one between
inner and outer stack on each side. One glazing-bar sash with
hoodmould to central gable. Regular 5-window front of slightly
recessed glazing-bar sashes with hoodmoulds; 3 to centre and one
to each outer bay. Central C20glazed door under hoodmould.
