House, formerly Headquarters and Officer's Mess of Coxheath Military Camp,
now farmhouse. Early C18. Red and grey brick in a Flemish-type bond.
Plain tile roof. Built at right-angles to street with double-fronted
gable end. 2 storeys and attic on high chamfered ashlared stone plinth.
Stone plat band which becomes flush across pilasters. Short length of
plain parapet to each end, from which gable rises with pitch of roof, with
plain C20 wooden verges. Plain narrow brick pilasters to each end and 3
broad brick pilasters across facade, that to centre rising to apex of
pediment. Brick stacks to left and right side elevations. Recessed 9-pane
sash window with segmental head to gable. Regular 3-window front of one
recessed 6-pane sash with thick glazing bars and segmental head, to each
broad pilaster. Similar 12-pane ground-floor sashes, breaking plinth. Oval
bulls-eye window with stone key over door. Central door of 8 fielded
panels, in panelled recess, with moulded architrave and flat corniced hood
on shaped brackets, up 4 steps. 2 storey red and grey brick service wing
at right-angles to left side, set back from front. Early-to-mid C20 brick
wing in similar style to main range, projecting forwards to right.
Interior not inspected, but said to have C18 staircase with twisted
balusters. Formerly in Linton Civil Parish.
