GV II*

Lychgate. C16 or earlier. Timber framed, with plain tile roof. 2 timber-
framed bays. Gabled. 3 trusses. Chamfered posts un-jowled but with
upstands to top, and jowled to bases. Cambered chamfered tie-beams with
short solid-spandrel braces. Similar braces to wall-plates. Moulded
octagonal crown-post with head braces, to central truss. 2 outer crown-posts
plain, with head and foot-braces. Collar purlin and wall-plates extend beyond
the end trusses by about 2 rafters. Gable end collars have king struts above.
Cusped bargeboards. Side walls open above midrails, boarded below, with
continuous seat. Ground-cills on stone plinths. A relatively uncommon
survival in this area.
