2/40 Barn about 56 metres
west of East Hall

GV II

Barn. C17. Timber framed, weatherboarded, with plain tile roof. 5 timber-
framed bays, with rear aisle and central midstrey. Hipped roof with gablets.
Central full-height double doors to front, with bracketed canopy over. Low
central double doors to rear aisle. Lean-to each side of midstrey to front.
Interior: chamfered jowled principal posts and aisle wall-posts. Arch-
braced tie-beams and arcade plates. Clasped purlin roof with short, curved
wind braces, diminishing principal rafters and vertical queen-struts to high
collars. Raked queen-struts to further continuous purlin lower down roof.
Raked queen-struts to aisle purlin. Edge-halved arcade-plate scarf-joint.
Right gable end and part of front wall has staves with plastered lath and daub
infilling above midrail and broad riven horizontal boarding below.
