5/2 Monkton House

GV II

House. Late C18. Chequered red and grey brick, largely in Flemish bond.
Banded plain and fishscale tiles to right and left gables. Plain tile roof. 2
storeys and garret on low brick plinth. Plat band. Wooden eaves cornice with
small acanthus design. Half-hipped gambrel roof. Rear stack to left. Regular
3-window front of slightly recessed four-pane sashes with horns. Ground-floor
sashes with segmental heads. Central door of six fielded panels, with plain
rectangular fanlight and flat hood. Rear lean-to. Interior not inspected.
