GV II

Barn. Late C16 or early C17, with C18 addition. Timber framed,
weatherboarded, on red and grey brick plinth. Plain tile roof. 3
timber-framed bays of late C16 or early C17, with central midstrey.
Fourth bay added to left in C18. Hipped roof, with gablet to right.
Full-height corrugated iron doors to right of centre. Low rear porch
with hipped roof. Lean-tos to rear to left of porch, and to left
gable end. Interior: late C16 or early C17 section has gunstock-
jowled posts, arch-braced tie-beams flanking midstrey, and clasped-
purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters, windbraces, and
vertical queen struts to collars. C18 bay has tie-beam and wall-
plates in same plane. Stave, lath and straw daub infilling above
midrail to rear wall of left end and left-central bays. Lath and
plaster infilling above rail to left gable end. Three-plank door
between left and bay and end lean-to.
