The main part of the building, which has 2 parallel ranges, is C18, but the
North East end is possibly older. 2 storeys and attics with 2 hipped dormers.
The back of the building facing Church Road is of red brick. The front facing High
Street has been refaced with stucco. The 2 easternmost window bays project slightly.
Tiled roof, hipped at the North East end, half hipped at the South West end, Long
and short quoins at the angles of the Eastern section and at the South West end
of the remainder, which also has a brick modillion eaves cornice, the bricks inserted
diagonally with the points protruding. 7 sashes set in surrounds with glazing
bars missing. Later doorcase with pilasters and projecting cornice supported on
consoles. C19 public house front to the West of the doorway.

No 85 Church Road forms a group with The Ship Hotel.
