5/31 The Old Granary

GV II

Granary, now Post office, stores and house. Probably early C19, and
C20. Ground floor shop front, tile hung above. Ground floor of right
side elevation red brick. Long building at right-angles to road. 3 storeys
with waved bargeboards and pendant. 2 small red brick stacks towards rear,
in right slope of roof. Street elevation has C20 2-storey rectangular bay
window on splayed base to upper storeys. C20 ground floor shop-front with
rendered pilasters to either side and recessed entrance decorated with
plain glazed tiles. Half-glazed door within shop front to left.
Right side elevation: 2nd floor has blocked window towards front and one
horizontally sliding sash. 1st floor has blocked window and two 2-light
casements. 4 recessed openings to ground floor. Old photograph shows
balconies to upper floors, with canopy above 2nd floor. Interior not
inspected. Included for group value.
